In this lesson, I present my free course on how to learn circular breathing on the didgeridoo, in four steps.
Why circular breathing seems so hard
If you look on YouTube, or if you ask many didgeridoo players how to do circular breathing, they will tell you to use your cheeks and breathe in at the same time.
Done like that, it is quite difficult, because there are many steps and many different mechanisms inside. So most beginners try, and then they stop. They say: “I can’t do it. It’s too difficult. It’s mystical. I can’t understand how it works.”
On the internet, circular breathing is explained very quickly, and it is hard to understand what to do and how it works. Under these conditions, it is normal to find it difficult.
Circular breathing is easy
Remember: circular breathing is easy, and you can do it. Many things on the didgeridoo are much more difficult:
- having a very clear sound;
- staying very precise with different techniques;
- changing the way you do circular breathing, because there are many ways to do it.
Those are difficult. But circular breathing itself is quite easy.
What you need: the right explanation, in 4 steps
To learn it quickly, you need the right explanation. So I made videos in which I teach you four different steps.
- Without, then with your didgeridoo
- Remove the second silence
- Remove the first silence
- Relax your lips to find the didgeridoo sound again
You will see that it is really easy. Even children can do it. You don’t have to be a perfect didgeridoo player.
I know how you feel
I have been teaching the didgeridoo for a very long time, and I have given many masterclasses in many countries around the world.
So trust me: I really know how you feel right now. Circular breathing can be really frustrating.
Start the 4 steps
The four steps are in my free circular breathing video course. Before you start, check the three things from lesson 3: a straight drone, a powerful sound and cheeks you can control.
You will see: you will do it.
